About Manuel Rosenthal

Manuel Rosenthal, born in Paris in 1904, was a distinguished French composer and conductor whose career spanned the globe, leaving an indelible mark on the classical music scene. A protégé of Maurice Ravel, Rosenthal was the last surviving pupil of the renowned composer, offering unique insights into Ravel's personality and lighter side. His own compositions, while varied, are perhaps best known for his spirited orchestration of Jacques Offenbach's operettas, notably the lively ballet score 'Gaîté Parisienne'.
