Fantastic album with excellent production. The sound is full and rich with great detail. My copy is 42 years old and still sounds amazing
Almost every track on this album has a bit of harshness in the sound.
In my opinion, this is the most stunning album of Streisand's career, crafted and produced by Barry Gibb, who also graces the cover. It's quite unusual for Barbra to share so much space and shine with another artist, but it truly worked out: "Woman In Love" became a global smash hit (topping the charts almost everywhere) and "Guilty" sold like hotcakes, becoming her best-selling album. I adore every track, particularly the slow ones. A hidden gem towards the end is the breathtaking "Make It Like A Memory." The duets with Barry are absolutely fantastic! Over in the USA, the album reached the top spot.
Barry Gibb's songwriting is top-notch, and Streisand's vocals are absolutely breathtaking. I must mention that the backing musicians were the best of the late '70s NYC scene. Despite its initial success, this album has been unfairly overlooked and labeled as just another commercial/easy listening piece. In my view, it's a masterpiece of artistry. The pressing and sound quality are impeccable.
I don't care much about Streisand's ego when songwriting is excellent (courtesy by Barry Gibb) and vocal performance is simply extraordinary. I'd like to point out that featuring sidemen musicians are the cream of late '70 NYC scene. After immediate success this record has been long forgotten and tagged as slick commercial/easy listening. In my opinion an excellent work of craftmanship to date. Pressing and sound are first class.
