  • Abercrombie's Fusion Gem

    3 out of 5 stars
    vokuQW_June 26, 2025United States🇺🇸

In 1988, guitar virtuoso Abercrombie dropped this fusion gem. I've always thought the album would flow better if it kicked off with track two, ran through to the end, and then wrapped up with the first track. Give it a shot; it truly transforms the album's shape and essence. John's pristine guitar sound is absolutely captivating. He also uses overdriven electric and guitar synth; not my favorite, but others might dig it. Brecker is phenomenal in the studio. Erskine and M. Johnson make a perfect rhythm section, as they're pros at this craft. Standout tracks are "Upon A Time" and "Labour Day". It's a modern, somewhat sharp-sounding record, but stick with it and you might uncover a real gem. 3 stars.

  • Synth Heaven for Metheny Fans

Absolutely adore it. The synths are fantastic, and Pat Metheny fans will definitely appreciate it as well.
