Sergei Nakariakov - Garland of Sonnets (LP)

Sergei Nakariakov, renowned trumpeter and co-artistic director, presents his latest album "Garland of Sonnets," a captivating collection of 21 chamber music pieces set to release on June 20, 2025, under Luiza Records. Collaborating once again with his frequent partner, pianist Maria Meerovitch, Nakariakov offers a diverse and engaging program that spans various moods and styles.

The album opens with a Suite in the Old Style, a five-movement work arranged for flugelhorn and piano, showcasing Nakariakov's versatility and virtuosity. This is followed by selections from Youli Galperin's Garland of Sonnets, Op. 44, a series of character pieces that highlight the expressive range of the trumpet and piano duo.

Nakariakov and Meerovitch also delve into the 18 Miniatures for Violin and Piano by Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov, presenting eight of these concise yet evocative pieces in new arrangements for trumpet and piano, or flugelhorn and piano. The album is rounded out with three selections from Simple Music for Piano by Nikolai Kapustin, arranged for trumpet and piano.
