About Marek Janowsk

Marek Janowski, born in Warsaw in 1939 and raised in Germany, is a celebrated conductor renowned for his masterful interpretations of German classical music. With a career spanning over five decades, Janowski has earned global acclaim for his profound renderings of composers such as Wagner, Richard Strauss, Bruckner, Brahms, Hindemith, and more. His journey in music began with studies in violin and piano at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, followed by rigorous conductor training. As the artistic director and chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic, Janowski continues to captivate audiences with his deep understanding and passionate performances of the German musical tradition. His ongoing project with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra to record all of Wagner's operas on the Pentatone label is a testament to his enduring dedication and artistry.
