Product description

Ben Sidran's 1976 album "Free In America" is a vibrant blend of vocal jazz and AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) that captures the spirit of its time. Released on April 23, 1976, under Legacy Recordings, this nine-track album spans a concise yet engaging 34 minutes. Sidran, known for his soulful piano playing and smooth vocals, delivers a collection that is both musically rich and lyrically insightful.

The album opens with "Feel Your Groove," setting a lively tone that carries through tracks like "After Midnight" and "Sunday Kind Of Love." Sidran's unique style shines in "Let's Make A Deal" and "Beg For It (The Real Thing)," showcasing his ability to fuse jazz sensibilities with rock elements. The album also includes a standout cover of Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," adding a touch of urban sophistication.

"Free In America" is not just a musical experience but also a cultural snapshot. Songs like "You Talk Too Much" and "The Cuban Connection" reflect the social and political undercurrents of the mid-1970s, while "Free In America" itself is an anthem of individualism and personal freedom. The album's closing track, "Free In America," encapsulates the themes of liberty and self-discovery that resonate throughout the record.

For fans of jazz and rock fusion, Ben Sidran's "Free In America" is a timeless piece that continues to captivate audiences with its blend of groove, lyricism, and social commentary. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to Sidran's work, this album offers a rewarding listening experience that stands the test of time.

This LP was released in 1979.

Among the later 'Mono' white label promo LPs, the sole way to obtain Mono is through the White Label edition, which is an amazing record, regardless of the version! The Mono sounds incredible :)
