About David Grimal

David Grimal is a renowned French violinist, born in 1973, who began his musical journey at the tender age of five. His prodigious talent was recognized early, leading him to win the First Prize in both violin and chamber music at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris in 1993. Grimal's artistic development was further enriched under the tutelage of esteemed musicians such as Philippe Hirschhorn, Shlomo Mintz, and the legendary Isaac Stern.

Throughout his illustrious career, David Grimal has captivated audiences worldwide with his virtuosic performances, establishing himself as a leading solo violinist on the international stage. His repertoire spans a wide range of genres, with a particular focus on chamber music. In 2021, Grimal joined the ranks of violinists who have recorded Bach's complete solo works multiple times, a testament to his deep musical insight and technical mastery.

Beyond his solo career, Grimal is also the founder of Les Dissonances, a unique European classical music orchestra established in 2004. This ensemble, comprising French and European musicians, is known for its innovative approach to classical music performance.

Grimal's discography is equally impressive, featuring albums that showcase his interpretive depth and technical brilliance. His recent releases include works by Poulenc, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Bach, and Ysaÿe, each offering a glimpse into his artistic vision and musical prowess. With his rich heritage—being the son of Egyptologist Nicolas Grimal and the grandson of Latinist Pierre Grimal—and his extensive musical education, David Grimal continues to inspire and enchant audiences with his extraordinary talent.
