Product description

Black Stone Cherry's second studio album, "Folklore and Superstition," released on August 16, 2008, under Roadrunner Records, is a powerful blend of southern rock, post-grunge, and hard rock that showcases the band's raw talent and versatility. With a runtime of 1 hour and 3 minutes, this 14-track album is a testament to Black Stone Cherry's ability to craft compelling narratives through their music.

The album opens with "Blind Man," a hard-hitting track that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Standout tracks like "Please Come In," "Reverend Wrinkle," and "Soulcreek" highlight the band's signature sound, characterized by gritty guitars, powerful vocals, and driving rhythms. "Things My Father Said" and "The Bitter End" offer a glimpse into the band's storytelling prowess, with lyrics that delve into personal and universal themes.

Black Stone Cherry's ability to blend different musical influences is evident in tracks like "Long Sleeves" and "Peace Is Free," which showcase a more melodic and introspective side of the band. The album also features some of the band's most dynamic performances, such as the hard-rocking "Devil's Queen" and the hauntingly beautiful "Ghost of Floyd Collins."

"Folklore and Superstition" is a must-listen for fans of southern rock and hard rock, offering a rich and varied musical experience that highlights Black Stone Cherry's growth and maturity as a band. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to their music, this album is sure to leave a lasting impression.

This 2024 Limited Edition Numbered Reissue 2LP set is pressed on 180g Green vinyl.

  • BSC's Heavy Rock Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    RehbujwacixJune 25, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Musically, this is a total heavy rock masterpiece, just like every other album from BSC. Even the lighter, crowd-pleasing track 'Things my Father Said' is still an incredibly powerful song. The pressing is absolutely fantastic, as you'd expect from MOV. It's completely silent with zero background noise, the bass is punchy, the mids and treble are clear and natural, and the instrument separation is top-notch.

How does this one vary from 19800322? It appears identical.

Absolutely! These dudes are FREAKIN' AWESOME and MOV is as cool as ever!
