Jimmy Rushing, born James Andrew Rushing, was a powerhouse vocalist and pianist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who left an indelible mark on the jazz and blues scenes. Best known for his tenure as the featured vocalist with Count Basie's Orchestra from 1935 to 1948, Rushing's rich baritone and dynamic stage presence made him a standout performer of the swing era.
