Five Brothers: Remembering Chet & Jeru, Vol. 1 - Gianni Basso

Product description

Gianni Basso, a seasoned jazz saxophonist, invites you into a world of timeless melodies and rich harmonies with his album "Five Brothers: Remembering Chet & Jeru, Vol. 1". Released on October 4, 2011, under the Philology label, this album is a heartfelt tribute to jazz legends Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan, affectionately known as "The Five Brothers" and "Jeru" respectively. Collaborating with talented musicians Andrea Pozza on piano, Luciano Milanese on bass, and Stefano Bagnoli on drums, Basso crafts a soulful journey through nine tracks, each a testament to the enduring influence of Baker and Mulligan.

The album opens with "Blues for Gerry," a poignant homage to Gerry Mulligan, followed by the tender "A Ballad" and the lively "Bernie's Tune." Each track is a masterclass in jazz improvisation and arrangement, showcasing Basso's virtuosic saxophone playing and his deep reverence for the jazz tradition. From the swinging "Broadway" to the haunting "Ghost of a Chance," the album is a rich tapestry of jazz standards and original compositions, all rendered with Basso's distinctive touch.

With a duration of 54 minutes, "Five Brothers: Remembering Chet & Jeru, Vol. 1" is a captivating exploration of jazz history and innovation. Whether you're a longtime fan of Gianni Basso or a newcomer to his music, this album offers a rewarding listening experience that highlights the beauty and complexity of jazz.
