Here's a 1979 MFSL pressing of Earl's "Finger Paintings". It's a fantastic collection of smooth jazz tunes with a Latin vibe, all played on nylon string guitar by the incredibly talented Earl. Standout tracks include "Long Ago", "Sparrow", and "Dance With Me". The music is absolutely stunning, and his guitar tone is just divine. I don't own any other Mobile Fidelity releases, but this one sounds incredibly clean with a fantastic range of high and low frequencies. The dynamics are amazing, really punchy. Just listen to the kick drum and snappy bass on "Sparrow" if you need proof. Based on this experience, I'd definitely buy another. It comes with all the original packaging, including promotional material for the label. Four stars, highly recommended.
Music wasn't my thing at all, so 2 stars for that, but the sound quality deserves a 4. This is definitely heading to the sell pile.
This album's tracks might not be everyone's cup of tea. That being said, you can always pick, or not, what matters more to you, 'sound' or 'music'. Either way, it's crystal clear that this is a fantastic sounding album, often deemed 'audiophile' and used to test hi-fi setups.
This album is mastered incredibly well. It's not the heaviest, but it plays evenly on the turntable and is completely quiet.
Incredible sounding album! One of the crispest, best separated records in my collection and the pressing is nearly flawless. What a steal for a $4 bargain bin find!
