  The sound quality of this pressing is absolutely stunning. There's a wealth of detail and nuance in both the soft and loud sections. The discs are flat, but I'm not entirely convinced they're quiet. I feel the volume level is mastered a touch low, which makes me notice a lot of surface noise - particularly in the very long and quiet fade-outs. In fact, Over The Rainbow at the end of side four seems to be drowning in it. This isn't the quality I'd expect from QRP, based on my past experiences. I reached out to AS and they're sending a replacement. Let's hope it's an improvement. I also got Blues & Roots at the same time and it's flawless. It was pressed by QRP too.

• Spin-Clean Success

  Having run my disc through the Spin-Clean, I've bumped up my grading to VG+. There's still a couple of crackles here and there, so perhaps another spin through the cleaner will fix that. I've just given it a listen on my headphones and it's sounding great, the disc seems to be spinning smoothly and it's nice and flat. The sound is punchy and (as you'd expect) the drums are right up front, with a good silence between tracks. Next time I play it, I'll check it with my decibel spectrum analyser, but I don't think my opinion will change!

• Vinyl Quality Impressive, Some Harshness

  I suppose this is the edition I received. There was a QRP sticker on the wrapping, but I can't locate a serial number anywhere. Nevertheless, the vinyl is flawlessly flat, perfectly centered, and completely silent. The dynamics are astonishing. It's sort of turning into a cliché based on other reviews I've come across, but it's genuine - I cranked up the volume to catch all the subtle parts of In The Air Tonight, only to be startled when the drums suddenly blast in towards the end. I must confess that apart from that track, I wasn't overly familiar with this album before, but I'm really enjoying a lot of the songs on it. I'm not certain if it's the master, the pressing, or my new stylus, but I'm definitely noticing some harshness on certain tracks. Quite a few of the cymbal sounds seem overly bright and a tad abrasive to my ears on my setup. Everyone's experience may vary. I still feel quite pleased with my purchase.

• Bass-Heavy Masterpiece

  Even though the AP version is out, I'm gonna hold onto this one! The bass is insane, deep and fast, with drums and synths all around you. It even beats my UK first pressing. Miles did an incredible job with this. My record is super quiet, no pops or clicks. Highly recommend it!

• AP's Superior Soundstage

  The contrast between this version and a US original (VG+, ultrasonically cleaned) is absolutely staggering. My sole concern is that Phil's voice on the original seems a tad fuller and warmer on the OG, and a bit thin on the AP. However, aside from that, the AP boasts vastly improved dynamics, a much larger and better-defined soundstage (particularly in depth), details are so much crisper, and the bass is tight and rock solid. But honestly, the OG is also a phenomenal sounding record that shouldn't be overlooked.
