Product description

Immerse yourself in the rich musical heritage of Slovakia with Eugen Suchoň's "Klavírne dielo 1928 - 1984, Vol. 1." This album is a captivating journey through the piano works of one of the most significant Slovak composers of the 20th century, Eugen Suchoň. Spanning over five decades of composition, from 1928 to 1984, this collection offers a comprehensive exploration of Suchoň's evolving style and artistic vision.

The album begins with the hauntingly beautiful "Adagio in G Minor" from 1928, showcasing Suchoň's early mastery of emotional depth and expressive power. The "Little Suite with Passacaglia, Op. 3," composed between 1931 and 1932, is a standout piece, blending classical forms with a distinctly modern sensibility. Each movement, from the delicate "Prelude" to the dynamic "Passacaglia," reveals Suchoň's intricate craftsmanship and innovative approach to composition.

The "Baladická suita op. 9," composed between 1935 and 1936, is another highlight, featuring a range of moods and tempos that highlight Suchoň's versatility. The "Metamorfózy, päť variácii na vlastné témy," composed between 1951 and 1953, showcases his later style, characterized by complex rhythms and harmonic innovations.

Performances on this album are brought to life by a talented ensemble of musicians, including Mayuko Kida Takine, Ladislav Fanzowitz, Jakub Cižmarovič, and Jordana Palovičová. Their interpretations bring out the nuanced beauty and technical brilliance of Suchoň's compositions, making this album a must-listen for fans of classical music and those eager to discover the rich musical traditions of Slovakia.

With a total duration of 1 hour and 12 minutes, this album is a substantial and rewarding listening experience. Released on July 5, 2018, by La Plata Production, "Klavírne dielo 1928 - 1984, Vol. 1" is a testament to Eugen Suchoň's enduring legacy and his significant contributions to the world of classical music.
