Product description

Erika Köth, a renowned soprano known for her exquisite vocal prowess and captivating stage presence, presents a mesmerizing collection of operatic arias in "Geliebt und Unvergessen, Vol.1". Released in 2013 under the Documents label, this album is a testament to Köth's enduring legacy in the world of opera. Spanning a little over an hour, the album features a diverse selection of pieces from some of the most celebrated operas, including Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", "Don Giovanni", and "Die Entführung aus dem Serail", as well as works by Weber, Strauss, and others.

The album opens with a powerful performance of "O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn" from "Die Zauberflöte", showcasing Köth's ability to convey both tenderness and authority. Her rendition of "Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" from the same opera is equally impressive, demonstrating her remarkable vocal agility and dramatic intensity. Throughout the album, Köth's voice shines, whether she is delivering a soaring high note or a delicate, intimate phrase.

One of the highlights of the album is Köth's performance of "Martern aller Arten" from "Die Entführung aus dem Serail". This aria is a showcase for the soprano's technical skill and emotional depth, and Köth's interpretation is both technically flawless and deeply moving. Another standout track is "Marie Theres! Hab mir's gelobt, ihn lieb zu haben / Ist ein Traum, kann nicht wirklichsein (Finale)" from "Der Rosenkavalier", where Köth's voice is both tender and poignant.

The album also features performances with the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Berliner Symphoniker, providing a rich and nuanced orchestral backdrop to Köth's vocals. The sound quality is excellent, allowing the listener to fully appreciate the subtleties of Köth's voice and the skill of the accompanying musicians.

In summary, "Geliebt und Unvergessen, Vol.1" is a remarkable album that showcases the incredible talent of Erika Köth. Whether you are a longtime fan of opera or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
