Enjott Schneider: Sacred Music, Vol. 8 - Enjott Schneider

Product description

Enjott Schneider, a prolific composer with an extensive catalog of over 2000 works, presents his eighth volume in the Sacred Music series. This album, released in 2012 under the AMBIENTE Audio label, is a profound exploration of the organ's expressive capabilities, showcasing Schneider's mastery of composition and his deep understanding of sacred music traditions.

The centerpiece of the album is the Organ Symphony No. 8 "In Memoriam," a four-movement work that pays tribute to the past while pushing the boundaries of the organ symphony genre. The symphony begins with "Metamorphosen," a transformative first movement that sets the stage for the journey ahead. "Scherzo sinistro," the second movement, introduces a darker, more sinister tone, demonstrating Schneider's ability to evoke a wide range of emotions through his music. The third movement, "Adagio," offers a moment of reflection and introspection, while the final movement, "Finale 'Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme'," brings the symphony to a powerful and triumphant close.

In addition to the symphony, the album also features "At the Edge of Time: Reflections on Mozart's 'Requiem, K. 626' (Version for Organ)," a contemplative piece that reimagines Mozart's iconic work for the organ. This piece showcases Schneider's ability to engage with and reinterpret the works of other composers, creating something new and unique.

Throughout the album, Schneider's compositions are brought to life by the skilled playing of Jürgen Geiger, whose nuanced performances highlight the depth and complexity of Schneider's music. With a total duration of 49 minutes, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that is sure to appeal to fans of sacred music and organ performances.
