Product description

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B Minor, Op. 104, masterfully performed by the renowned cellist Paul Tortelier. Released on December 9, 2008, under the Past Classics label, this album is a testament to Tortelier's virtuosity and the enduring appeal of Dvořák's composition.

The concerto, divided into three movements—Allegro, Adagio ma non troppo, and Finale (Allegro moderato - Andante - Allegro vivo)—spans a total of 38 minutes. Each movement showcases Tortelier's technical prowess and deep emotional connection to the music. The Allegro opens with a vibrant and energetic melody, while the Adagio ma non troppo offers a serene and introspective contrast. The Finale brings the concerto to a thrilling close with its dynamic shifts and intricate passages.

Tortelier's interpretation is both sensitive and powerful, capturing the essence of Dvořák's romantic and lyrical style. This album is a must-listen for classical music enthusiasts and anyone seeking a profound musical experience.

Paul Tortelier, born in Paris in 1914, was a French cellist and composer renowned for his dramatic stage presence and profound musicality.
