Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Jan Ladislav Dussek, a prominent figure of the Classical era, with this remarkable album released on January 1, 1995, by Capriccio. This collection showcases Dussek's virtuosity and emotional depth through two of his most celebrated piano concertos and a dramatic narrative piece.

The album opens with the Piano Concerto in G Minor, Op. 49, a work that exemplifies Dussek's ability to blend technical brilliance with profound expressiveness. The concerto's three movements—Allegro, Adagio, and Rondo—take the listener on a journey through a range of emotions, from the stormy intensity of the first movement to the lyrical beauty of the Adagio and the playful elegance of the Rondo.

Following this is the Piano Concerto in B-Flat Major, Op. 22, another masterpiece that highlights Dussek's innovative approach to the concerto form. The concerto's three movements—Allegro non troppo, Larghetto non tanto, and Rondo—are performed with exquisite sensitivity and precision, showcasing the artist's mastery of the piano.

The album concludes with "The Sufferings of the Queen of France, Op. 23," a dramatic narrative piece that tells the story of Marie Antoinette's imprisonment and execution. Narrated by Jean-Michel Forest, this work offers a unique blend of music and storytelling, providing a poignant and powerful conclusion to the album.

Performed by Andreas Staier and Concerto Köln, this album is a testament to Dussek's enduring legacy and the timeless appeal of his music.
