This sixty-year-old vinyl record has never sounded this incredible. Red Mitchell's bass playing is absolutely outstanding, particularly on the final two tracks of Side B.
Dean Martin's smooth, velvety voice shines on this record. The pressing is top-notch, delivering an outstanding sound quality. It's truly exceptional, the cream of the crop. As always, AP provides excellent packaging with a heavy, glossy jacket and QRP inner sleeves. It's not the cheapest, but considering how its value skyrocketed when it went out of print, don't wait - it'll likely become a rare find again. This could very well be the best sounding record in your collection.
Is it just me or does Blue Moon have a crazy hiss?
Incredibly well-sounding album. Dean's vocals are clear and right up front. Another amazing release from AP (as expected).
Among the three top Dean Martin albums vying for the title of Best (the other two being "Sleep Warm" and "This Time I'm Swingin'"), "Dream With Dean" stands out as a testament to his underrated vocal prowess. Known for his effortless cool and comedic charm, Martin truly shone when he tackled ballads with sincerity. This album is a soft, enchanting collection of truly beautiful tracks. Give "If You Were The Only Girl" or "I'll Buy That Dream" a listen before dismissing Martin's singing abilities. (Fun fact: the same year, Reprise Records pulled off a similar format successfully with another artist, Keely Smith.)
