I stumbled upon a counterfeit Cassette at my neighborhood record shop, so it's probably no surprise that there are probably fake CDs floating around too!
I can't quite vouch for the build quality of the vinyl, but the audio is impressively crisp for a bootleg; and the cost is justified. That said, my copy did have a tiny nick missing on the record, but it doesn't affect playback at all!
I managed to grab one and I've got to tell you, this boot is absolutely worth it! The sleeve and insert both look clean and totally authentic, the vinyl is rich and heavy. Plus, side A has the entire MFDOOM mixtape and side B includes all the instrumental beats, which is a massive bonus 💯 I spent years trying to track down an original, but because of the price, I never got one. Then last year, I snagged a 1 of 15 test pressing for the box set release, only to wait 8 months for Cookin Soul to tell me that they were lost in transit or something. After being disappointed by that, this is a true Christmas miracle! Don't miss out if you've been wanting a copy.
Somehow I ended up buying this fake copy on eBay for probably way too much cash ($450) and wasn't sure what to expect when I first listened. But hey, it actually sounds pretty good and I'm gonna hold onto it. What an awesome album, rest in peace MF DOOM
