Product description

Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy presents a captivating exploration of sound and dissonance in his album "Surface Tension & Disposable Dissonance," released on June 28, 2019, under the New Amsterdam label. This album is a journey through two single-movement compositions, each offering a unique sonic experience.

"Surface Tension" and "Disposable Dissonance" are performed by the acclaimed Third Coast Percussion ensemble from Chicago. The latter piece is particularly noteworthy, featuring three continuous sections driven by different concepts of dissonance, each section disposing of it in a distinct manner. This creates a dynamic and evolving soundscape that keeps the listener engaged throughout the 40-minute duration.

Dennehy's work is known for its innovative approach to composition, and this album is no exception. It blends elements of contemporary classical music with a fresh perspective, making it a compelling listen for both longtime fans of Dennehy's work and those new to his music. The album's intricate rhythms and harmonies showcase Dennehy's mastery of composition and the exceptional skill of the Third Coast Percussion ensemble.

Whether you're a fan of contemporary classical music or simply looking to explore something new, this album is sure to leave a lasting impression.
