Product description

Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the renowned Russian baritone, presents a captivating collection of operatic and classical pieces in his album "Свет берез," released on September 12, 2009. This album is a testament to Hvorostovsky's extraordinary vocal prowess and his deep connection to Russian music. Spanning a duration of one hour and five minutes, the album features a diverse range of tracks that showcase the artist's versatility and emotional depth.

The album opens with "Как молоды мы были," a poignant reminder of youthful innocence, followed by the serene "Подмосковные вечера (Не слышны в саду даже шорохи)," a classic that highlights Hvorostovsky's ability to convey tranquility and longing. The track "Шум берез" brings a sense of rustling leaves and nature's whispers, while "Не спеши" encourages a pause to savor life's moments. The album also includes the powerful aria "Жди меня" from the opera "А зори здесь тихие," demonstrating Hvorostovsky's dramatic range.

Other notable tracks include "Три года ты мне снилась (Как это все случилось)," a hauntingly beautiful piece, and "Вечерняя песня (Песня о Ленинграде, Слушай Ленинград)," a tribute to the city of St. Petersburg. The album concludes with "Родина слышит," a patriotic piece that resonates with a sense of national pride.

Throughout "Свет берез," Dmitri Hvorostovsky's rich, resonant voice brings each track to life, making it a compelling listen for fans of opera and classical music alike. The album is a celebration of Russian musical heritage and a showcase of Hvorostovsky's artistry.

About Dmitri Hvorostovsky

Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the beloved Russian operatic baritone, was born on 16 October 1962 in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. His journey to operatic stardom began after studying with Yekaterina Yofel in his hometown, leading to his triumphant victory at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 1989. Before his operatic success, Hvorostovsky even sang in a heavy metal band, showcasing his versatile vocal range. Known for his powerful and emotive performances, Hvorostovsky's repertoire spanned a wide array of classical and operatic genres. Despite battling a brain tumour, he continued to captivate audiences with his incredible talent until his passing on 22 November 2017, at the age of 55. His legacy as a husband, father, son, and friend endures, as does his remarkable contribution to the world of opera.
