This is a really great and spotless pressing. In my opinion, it even outdoes the 1989 South Korea release (https://www.discogs.com/release/21394006-Vangelis-Direct).
The pressing quality is a tad better than average (for colored vinyl), LP1 has a bit of a bend/wobble (perhaps that's why A1 doesn't play smoothly at the start), while LP2 is nearly flat. Overall, the records play quite cleanly, with just a couple of spots that crackle, and they spin without any distortion. The sound is fantastic (I haven't got anything else to compare it to), and you can really pick out details with repeated listens. The cover (pocket-style, which is handy) is lovely, made from thicker, textured material, and the insert is on matte paper. This album is new to me—I don’t know why I hadn’t checked it out before—but it’s definitely intriguing. I can’t rate it after just the first or second listen; it’ll take some time to fully appreciate. Even though I’d prefer classic black vinyl, I’d recommend picking up and listening to this album in this edition. The production quality is top-notch. Listen and enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
Vangelis truly shines when crafting beautiful music, and that's exactly what he does here. Apart from the average opening song, the rest of the album is absolutely fantastic. Give 'Will of the Wind' a listen, as it's featured here, and you'll see what I mean. It's just marvelous!
In my opinion, this is Vangelis's finest album, featuring 3 amazing songs: "The will of the wind," "Rotation's logic," and "Message...
While I'm more of a fan of Vangelis' 70s work, this album is still one of my top picks. He really knows how to evoke emotions with his music. A few tracks might remind you of that polished 80s sound, but he pulls it off so well that it never feels outdated or tacky. The vinyl sounds fantastic, and you can snag it for a bargain if you look around. The only downside is that it's missing two songs compared to the CD version—something I just noticed. I suppose I'll have to hunt down a copy or consider the double MOV edition.
