Super pleased with my 313 series units so far! Once again, zero problems with my pressing. Might be down to the original tape's quality, but it sounds fantastic to me. There was a lot of worry about this Third Man team-up, but for me, it's spot on!
The 'white in blue' seems to have returned to the Blue Note web store, as of October 8, 2023.
The vinyl's color is absolutely stunning and the sound quality is quite impressive. However, my copy has a minor warp, which is a tad disheartening, as some others have also mentioned. I'm hoping Third Man can address this issue in their future releases.
I'm confused, where did the drums go? This re-release is quite disappointing. Warren Defever seems to have struggled with these tapes. It's such a letdown because the session is fantastic, but the execution is really lacking. Has anyone got any info on how the originals or first pressings sound?
Anything by Thad Jones (brother to Hank & Elvin) deserves 5 stars, no doubt. But this album? It's pure 3MR vibes. 'Stereo' sticker, but it's mono all the way. The disc's as light as a feather, barely hits 140 grams. A real quality disc should pack some weight, like a brick of yay, at least 20% of it. Who's Warren Defever? Never heard that name before! I'll spank ya, shank ya, mess up your whole game when I strike. Watch your back, 'cause I'm comin' to dunk on ya. Your clout's weak, I'm out here hustlin', deliverin' packages every hour, makin' moves.
