Product description

"Dear Mademoiselle": A Tribute to Nadia Boulanger is a captivating journey through the world of chamber music, curated by the talented cellist Astrig Siranossian. Released on November 6, 2020, under the Alpha Classics label, this album is a heartfelt homage to the influential composer and teacher Nadia Boulanger. Spanning a duration of 72 minutes, the album features 16 tracks that showcase a diverse range of compositions, including works by Boulanger herself, as well as pieces by Stravinsky, Glass, and others.

The album opens with the evocative "Le grand tango," followed by a suite of Italian-inspired pieces that highlight Siranossian's virtuosic technique and expressive depth. The "3 Pieces for Cello and Piano" and the "Sonata for Cello and Piano" offer a glimpse into Siranossian's interpretive prowess, as she navigates the intricate melodies and harmonies with grace and precision. The album also features a medley of popular French songs, arranged for cello and piano, adding a touch of whimsy to the otherwise classical repertoire.

Throughout the album, Siranossian is joined by pianist Nathanaël Gouin and pianist Daniel Barenboim, whose collaborative performances bring a sense of warmth and intimacy to the recordings. The album's thoughtful curation and impeccable performances make it a standout release in the world of chamber music, offering both seasoned enthusiasts and casual listeners a rich and rewarding listening experience.

About Astrig Siranossian

Astrig Siranossian is a captivating French cellist of Armenian descent, born in 1988, whose performances are as rich and vibrant as her cultural heritage. With a career marked by numerous accolades, including the First Prize at the prestigious Krzysztof Penderecki International Cello Competition, Siranossian has established herself as a formidable presence in the classical music world. She has graced stages with leading orchestras and collaborated with renowned artists such as Daniel Barenboim, showcasing her versatility and depth as a performer.

Siranossian's journey began at the tender age of eight when she enrolled in the Lyon Regional Conservatoire, eventually graduating with the highest distinction from the Lyon National Conservatoire at just eighteen. Her music is deeply rooted in her Armenian origins, often incorporating traditional melodies that echo the songs her grandmother used to sing. This cultural fusion is evident in her performances, where she seamlessly blends classical repertoire with Armenian folk music, creating a unique and emotive experience for her audience.

Beyond her musical prowess, Siranossian is also an artistic director of music festivals and the founder of a charity dedicated to supporting children in Lebanon and Armenia. Her commitment to both her art and her community underscores her passion for making a meaningful impact through music. Whether performing solo or in chamber ensembles, Astrig Siranossian's cello playing is a testament to her technical brilliance and emotional depth, making her a standout artist in the world of classical music.
