Product description

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of classical music with David Oistrakh's captivating album, featuring a stunning collection of violin works by Vivaldi, Leclair, and Mozart. This album, released in 1998 under the Russian Compact Disc label, showcases Oistrakh's virtuosity and deep connection with the violin, offering a rich tapestry of musical expressions that span from the lively allegros of Vivaldi's concertos to the graceful adagios and the intricate sonatas of Leclair, culminating in the harmonious symphony of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante.

The album opens with Vivaldi's Concerto for 3 Violins and Orchestra in F Major, RV 551, a piece that immediately draws you in with its vibrant and dynamic Allegro. The Andante and Allegro movements that follow provide a beautiful contrast, showcasing the range and depth of Oistrakh's playing. The concerto continues with the Concerto for 2 Violins and Orchestra in D minor, RV 514, where Oistrakh's mastery of the violin is evident in the Allegro non molto and the Allegro molto movements, framed by the serene Adagio.

Leclair's Violin Sonata in D Major, Op. 9 No. 3, is a highlight of the album, with its Un poco andante and Allegro movements offering a delightful interplay of melody and rhythm. The Sarabanda. Largo and Tambourin. Presto movements add a touch of elegance and liveliness, respectively, to this enchanting sonata.

The album concludes with Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra in E-Flat major, K.364. The Allegro maestoso and Andante movements are filled with Mozart's signature grace and sophistication, while the Presto movement, featuring a cadence by Mozart himself, brings the album to a thrilling close.

With a duration of 1 hour and 6 minutes, this album is a testament to David Oistrakh's enduring legacy as one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.

About David Oistrakh

David Oistrakh, a titan of 20th-century classical music, was a Soviet Russian violinist, violist, and conductor whose name is synonymous with virtuosity and artistry. Born in Odessa, Ukraine, in 1908, Oistrakh began his violin studies at a tender age and quickly rose to prominence, earning the nickname "the Eastern Paganini." His exceptional technique and rich tone production made him one of the most-recorded violinists of all time, with a repertoire that spanned concerti, sonatas, and Soviet masterworks.

Oistrakh's career was marked by numerous premieres of works by renowned composers such as Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Khachaturian. He was not just a performer but also a dedicated pedagogue, sharing his knowledge as a professor at the Moscow Conservatory. His influence extended beyond his performances, as he mentored countless students and inspired generations of musicians.

Despite the political climate of his time, Oistrakh's musical genius transcended borders, earning him international acclaim. He performed extensively in the Soviet Union and abroad, leaving an indelible mark on the world of classical music. His legacy continues to inspire, with his recordings and performances celebrated for their technical brilliance and emotional depth.
