  • Hall & Oates' Silver Comeback

    4 out of 5 stars
    grdoaxcaukoOctober 17, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Daryl Hall and John Oates were on the brink when this album dropped. Despite that, the cover art doesn't do justice to the quality of the tracks inside. The songs from this, what we now refer to as The Silver Album, are as solid as those on Abandoned Luncheonette, and they're nothing like the stuff on War Babies. This is the record that catapulted them to fame with the hit “Sara Smile,” a tune about John’s girlfriend. The album also marked their comeback to the Philadelphia sound, that Rock N’ Soul vibe. Crafting smooth pop songs with a bit of an edge and building a cult following can't be easy... and it proved to be quite a challenge for John and Daryl to keep up. My only gripe with Hall and Oates was MTV; they got so much exposure that they started thinking they were invincible, that their fans would eat up anything they put out. While they did amass a massive fan base, they lost their original fans, and when the core crumbles, the whole thing falls apart, which is exactly what happened. You can still catch Hall and Oates today, they're back to playing small venues, it's personal, engaging, and just how it should be. Don't judge the book by its cover, just listen to the music. • Brilliant album, impressive quality

    5 out of 5 stars

The album is amazing and the print quality is just as impressive! Don't let the somewhat questionable but irresistible disco/glam/proto-gay vibe fool you. Easy to find at an affordable price... Too bad this band isn't more well-known around here.

  • H2O's Best Album Ever

    5 out of 5 stars
    jgp8718August 22, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Hands down, this is my all-time favorite H2O album. Every single track is amazing, but side 2 is truly something else with those incredible, earworm pop tunes. It's an exhilarating listen, and the soundstage by zentz is top-notch. Make sure to grab an original foil pressing with the AZ in the deadwax. Trust me, you'll be thrilled you did!
