Product description

Immerse yourself in the vibrant and rich cultural tapestry of Spain with Pablo de Sarasate's "Danzas Españolas." This captivating album, released in 2000 under the Leverage label, is a testament to the virtuosity of the renowned violinist and composer Pablo de Sarasate. Spanning a concise yet engaging 49 minutes, the album is a collection of classical pieces that showcase the essence of Spanish folk music, masterfully interpreted through Sarasate's distinctive lens.

The album opens with "Malagueña, Op. 21/1, No. 1," a piece that sets the tone for the entire collection, followed by the enchanting "Habañera, Op. 21/2, No. 2." Each track is a journey through different regions and musical styles of Spain, from the romantic "Romanza andaluza, Op. 22/1, No. 3" to the lively "Jota navarra, Op. 22/2, No. 4." The album also features the dynamic "Zapateado, Op. 23/2, No. 6," a showpiece that highlights Sarasate's technical brilliance.

Sarasate's compositions are not just for listening but also for playing. The album includes pieces like "Playera, Op. 23/1, No. 5," which invites musicians to engage with the music on a deeper level. The album concludes with the dramatic "Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20, No. 1," leaving the listener with a lasting impression of Sarasate's genius.

"Danzas Españolas" is a celebration of Spanish music, expertly crafted by one of the most influential violinists of the 19th century. Whether you're a classical music enthusiast or new to the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.

Pablo de Sarasate, born in Pamplona, Spain, in 1844, was a virtuoso violinist, composer, and conductor whose name is synonymous with the golden age of classical music. Beginning his violin studies at the tender age of five, Sarasate quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the most celebrated violinists of the Romantic period. His extraordinary talent and charismatic stage presence captivated audiences across Europe and beyond.
