About Daniel-Lesur

Daniel-Lesur, born Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur in Paris on November 19, 1908, was a renowned French organist and composer who left an indelible mark on the world of classical music. Born into a musical family, with his mother Alice Lesur being a composer and pupil of the famous Tournemire, Daniel-Lesur's musical journey began at an early age. He entered the Paris Conservatory at just eleven years old, studying harmony with Jean Gallon and later becoming a distinguished composer and organist in his own right.

Throughout his prolific career, Daniel-Lesur created a diverse range of works, from choral pieces to organ compositions, many of which have been featured on notable compilations and albums. His piece 'Le Cantique des Cantiques' is particularly celebrated for its beauty and depth. Beyond his compositions, Daniel-Lesur was also a dedicated teacher, sharing his passion and knowledge with future generations of musicians.
