Oh, Daft Club, such promise, yet so few standout tracks. In my view, the Japanese edition is the only one that's worth purchasing. The Japanese version of Daft Club featured an exclusive 15th track, Dominique Torti's Wild Style Edit of Voyager, which makes Voyager sound like your CD player is skipping, but it's actually a fantastic song. Plus, the Japanese release came with a DVD packed with Interstella 5555 clips and a Daft Punk interview. As for the music on Daft Club overall, apart from Ouverture, Aerodynamic [Daft Punk Remix], Boris Dlugosh's Remix of Digital Love, Dominique Torti's Wild Style Edit of Voyager, and Aerodynamite, Daft Club isn't really worth your time. Fortunately, those 5 tracks are absolutely worth a listen. Buying any other version of Daft Club besides the Japanese one just feels like a waste of money. Why couldn't all releases of Daft Club have included those extras?
The pressing is better than usual, the records are nearly flawless, they spin smoothly and without any noise. The audio is amazing. The sleeve is a classic pouch in solid quality. The album might not be the most innovative, but I'm a fan of the remixes and they sound awesome. I'd definitely recommend it. Enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
It's got some good parts, but it gets boring halfway.
This album has me puzzled. It's quite unique. I'd say it's not quite Daft Punky, that's for sure.
Alright, let's break it down β there's the good, the bad, and then there's Daft Club. I've never been a fan of remixes, mainly because they often mess up the original track. Sadly, this album is no exception. Overture A decent start, takes me back to the bad old days of AOL Aerodynamic (Daft Punk Remix) Love how it kicks off with a mix of Aerodynamic and One More Time! But then it just plays Aerodynamic straight up Harder Better Faster Stronger (The Neptunes Remix) A pretty neat take, definitely gives it a listen Face To Face (Cosmo Vitelli Remix) Meh, not the best version of a solid song Phoenix (Basement Jaxx Remix) Hardly anything from the original here. One of the weakest on the CD Digital Love (Boris Dlugosh Remix) One of the cheapest sounding tracks I've ever heard. It's basically the same as the original Harder Better Faster Stronger (Jess & Crabbe Remix) Now this is what remixing should be. Awesome stuff Face To Face (Demon Remix) Better than Cosmo's, but still not the original Crescendolls (Laidback Luke Remix) One of my fave remixes. Feels totally different from the original but still a blast. Aerodynamic (Slum Village Remix) A really cool rap track. Most interesting remix here Too Long (Gonzales Version) Sounds like Elton John, which is kinda sad Aerodynamite From the Aerodynamic single. Not bad at all One More Time (Romanthony's Unplugged) WTF? Sounds like Romanthony had one too many. The worst track on the album Something About Us (Love Theme From Interstella 5555) Another cheap track. They just chopped off the intro and ending. This album is pretty average, even with the cheap and awful tracks, there are still a few gems. Worth a look. 6/10
