It's quite strange how well and impactful pop tunes can sound on vinyl: a plain old disc with no surface hiss and a powerful, lively sound. The craftsmanship is surely missing in colored discs and those cheap, mass-produced pressings.
This here's a genuine Era Classic...JJ shinin' in her debut sans the Jackson Legacy shackles....it's a must-have for late 80-90's soul enthusiasts and on vinyl, it's a straight-up banger!!! Occasionally, music can trap you in the sound and production era it hails from, dating some albums and artists....BUT...this JJ Control album is the cream of the crop for late 80's & early 90's! Just give it a spin and unwind because it's an over-polished classic...lol
It ain't the original, but it's far from terrible... Sure, there's a slight fade issue on one track that most folks wouldn't even catch... Yeah, the original's better, but if you're after a fresh album cover and insert, this one's pretty decent... I'm even playing it through my computer now... Doesn't seem like a digital file... If it is, it's a darn good one... I'd still grab a great used copy if I could, but no shame in having this edition... Unless you're really gonna sweat 2 seconds of a fade out, you'll enjoy this... I caught it, but I just kept grooving to Janet... My old original got jacked ages ago.
The tunes are timeless, but this record is incredibly loud. There's a lot of crackling noises during most tracks on both sides, often at the most inconvenient moments. I had hoped this pressing would be superior to the US release. Guess not.
Amazing pressing! Huge and expansive soundstage. Sounds better than both CD and high-res digital formats. The fact that it's an 180g colored vinyl record is a nice extra. The only downside is the flimsy jacket and the printed inner sleeve that tends to tear at the seams, but that's my sole complaint.
