Karin Krog and John Surman's initial recorded team-up is a stunning blend of Surman's melodic, ethereal tones and Krog's distinctive, slightly husky vocals. The addition of drummer Stu Martin injects a crucial rhythm into several tracks, notably "New Spring." In my opinion, "Jonathan" stands out as one of the album's highlights, later revisited in "Such Winters Of Memory." Another remarkable piece is "Empty Streets," featuring an ensemble of overdubbed Baritone Sax that delivers captivating music towards the end. Among their four studio albums together (this one, "Such Winters," "Freestyle," and "Bluesand"), I find this debut to be the most cohesive, offering consistently high quality throughout.
