About Evan Christopher

Evan Christopher is a renowned American jazz clarinetist and composer, born on August 31, 1969. His musical journey began at the age of 11, and by high school, he had already garnered significant recognition, including the Louis Armstrong National Jazz Award. Evan's deep connection to New Orleans music started with his admiration for Louis Armstrong, leading him to move to the city in his early 20s. There, he honed his craft as a steamboat clarinetist by day and immersed himself in the vibrant music scene on Frenchmen Street by night. After over two decades in New Orleans, Evan relocated to New York City, where he now resides and continues to create and perform, albeit in a semi-retired capacity. His work spans various genres, including ragtime, and has been featured in notable projects such as the HBO series "Treme." Evan's unique style and dedication to his artistry make him a standout figure in the jazz world.
