Product description

Dive into the abrasive and uncompromising world of Wolf Eyes with "Burned Mind," their debut full-length release on the iconic Sub Pop Records, hitting the scene on September 28, 2004. This 31-minute sonic assault is a testament to the band's pioneering spirit in the American noise scene, blending genres like noise rock, drone, free jazz, industrial, experimental, neofolk, and avant-garde into a chaotic and captivating whole.

"Burned Mind" is a raw and visceral experience, with tracks like "Dead In A Boat," "Stabbed In The Face," and "Black Vomit" pushing the boundaries of what music can be. The album's nine tracks are a relentless onslaught of distorted guitars, pounding drums, and haunting vocals, creating an atmosphere that is as unsettling as it is compelling. Wolf Eyes, hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, have crafted an album that is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who dare to explore the darker corners of experimental music.

The album's cover art, a stark and eerie image, sets the tone for the music within, hinting at the chaotic and unpredictable nature of the sounds that await. "Burned Mind" is a defining release for Wolf Eyes, showcasing their unique blend of genres and their fearless approach to music. Whether you're a longtime fan of experimental music or a curious newcomer, "Burned Mind" is an album that demands to be heard.

This LP was released in 2004.

  • Rough Texture, Great Sound

This album is absolutely amazing and the packaging is so unique. You can actually feel the texture and the material has a rough, unpolished feel to it. The insert is fantastic and features old posters and photos from that time. The sound quality on the vinyl is excellent too. I was shocked to find it at Amoeba Hollywood in near mint condition for around $30. It's been a year since I bought this and I spin it at least once a month. It's easily my favorite album by them.

  • Winter's Industrial Anguish

    5 out of 5 stars
    ieddjisDecember 22, 2024United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

No other album before or since has encapsulated the chill of frozen ground, the density of snowflakes descending, the burden of winter's grip, the loneliness of a metropolis, or the splendor of being overwhelmed by a thousand tons of ice quite like this one, born from the tormented and inebriated imaginations of three of Ann Arbor, Michigan's luckiest natives. Initially, Iggy & The Stooges poured their Detroit madness into gripping rock and roll, and now Wolf Eyes does the same; though instead of rebelling against the nauseating sixties flower power with guitars, Wolf Eyes shapes their modern anguish with the help of industrial terrains plucked from Eraserhead and thrift store electronics torn to digital shreds by soldering irons and feedback circuits.

  • Wolf Eyes' Best Album

THIS is the definitive Wolf Eyes record, with certain tunes deserving the title of a J-A-M-M.

About Wolf Eyes

Hailing from the gritty streets of Detroit, Michigan, Wolf Eyes has been a formidable force in the experimental music scene since their inception in 1996. Founded by Nate Young, the group has evolved into a dynamic duo, renowned for their boundary-pushing sound that blends DIY electronics with avant-garde sensibilities. With a career spanning over two and a half decades, Wolf Eyes has collaborated with a diverse array of artists from around the world, cementing their status as a prominent act within contemporary noise music.

Wolf Eyes' discography is a testament to their innovative approach, fusing elements of noise rock, drone, free jazz, industrial, neofolk, and avant-garde into a sonic landscape that is as disorienting as it is captivating. Their music is not just heard but experienced, drawing influences from the dreary Midwestern life and the surrealist movements of the past. Each album is a journey through a surreal dreamscape, where familiar sounds are transformed into something entirely new and unsettling.

The duo's live performances are legendary, known for their intense and immersive nature. Wolf Eyes has shared the stage with some of the most influential figures in experimental music, further solidifying their reputation as pioneers in the genre.
