Product description

Immerse yourself in the nostalgic and evocative world of "Bruce Mason's the End of the Golden Weather," a captivating album by Peter Vere-Jones, released in 2007 under ODE Records. This musical journey is a tribute to Bruce Mason's classic novel, set in Takapuna in the 1930s, and brings to life the story of 12-year-old Geoff Crome's idyllic seaside summer.

The album is a rich tapestry of 11 tracks, each contributing to the overall narrative and atmosphere. From the hauntingly beautiful "Sunday at Te Parenga" to the dramatic "The Night of the Riots," and the festive "Christmas at Te Parenga," the music beautifully complements the story's setting and themes. The three-part "The Made Man" suite adds depth and complexity, while the four movements of "Incidental Music" provide a symphonic backdrop to the tale.

Peter Vere-Jones, in collaboration with Gareth Farr, masterfully blends various musical elements to create a soundtrack that is both poignant and engaging. The album's duration of 2 hours and 6 minutes ensures a comprehensive and immersive experience, making it a standout piece in the world of narrative music.

Eighteen years after Bruce Mason's passing, Peter Vere-Jones was the first to be granted the right to perform "The End of the Golden Weather," making this album a significant and historic release. Whether you're a fan of narrative music, a lover of classic literature, or simply someone looking for a rich and engaging musical experience, this album is sure to captivate and enchant.
