Product description

Brett Dean's "Testament" is a captivating exploration of chamber music, released in 2009 under the ABC Classic label. This album showcases Dean's remarkable compositional prowess, featuring seven tracks that span a total duration of 1 hour and 7 minutes. The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sebastian Lang-Lessing, brings Dean's intricate and evocative pieces to life, creating a rich and immersive listening experience.

The album opens with "Testament," a powerful and introspective piece, followed by "Etüdenfest," a piano-centric composition performed by Caroline Almonte. "Shadow Music" is a three-part suite that delves into darker, more mysterious territories, with each movement—"I. Prelude," "II. Forgotten Garden," and "III. Voices and Shadows"—offering a unique sonic journey. The album concludes with "Between Moments" and "Game Over," both of which highlight Dean's ability to blend emotional depth with technical brilliance.

Brett Dean is an acclaimed Australian composer and violinist, known for his innovative and expressive works. In 2009, the same year "Testament" was released, Dean won the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for his violin concerto "The Lost Art of Letter Writing." His opera "Hamlet," premiered in 2017, further cemented his reputation as a leading figure in contemporary classical music.

"Testament" is a testament to Dean's artistic vision and the extraordinary talents of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Whether you're a longtime fan of chamber music or a newcomer looking to explore the genre, this album offers a compelling and rewarding experience.
