About Pete Rugolo

Pete Rugolo, born Pietro Rugolo in Sicily, was a pioneering force in the world of jazz composition and arrangement. Emigrating to the United States in 1920, Rugolo went on to become one of the most prolific arrangers for Stan Kenton's innovative orchestras from 1945 to 1949, contributing to the band's distinctive and daring sound. Rugolo's work seamlessly blended his love for jazz with influences from classical composers like Stravinsky and Bartók, creating a unique and captivating musical style. His discography spans genres such as big band, progressive big band, and exotica, showcasing his versatility and innovative spirit.
