Product description

Sylvia Telles' "Bossa, Balanço, Balada" is a captivating journey into the heart of bossa nova and Brazilian jazz, released in 1963 under Universal Music Ltda. This timeless album spans a concise yet impactful 34 minutes, featuring 12 tracks that showcase Sylvia Telles' velvety vocals and the genre's signature blend of samba rhythms and cool jazz.

The album opens with "Rio," a vibrant tribute to the city's enchanting allure, followed by the serene "Amor Em Paz," where Telles' voice glides effortlessly over the gentle instrumental backdrop. Standout tracks like "Samba Do Avião" and "Insensatez" highlight the album's dynamic range, from the playful, upbeat samba to the sultry, melancholic ballads. Each track is a testament to Telles' artistry, as she navigates the complexities of love, longing, and joy with grace and nuance.

"Bossa, Balanço, Balada" is not just an album; it's a snapshot of a cultural movement that transcended borders and left an indelible mark on the world of music. Sylvia Telles' masterful interpretation of these classic compositions cements her legacy as one of the most influential voices in bossa nova. Whether you're a seasoned fan or new to the genre, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that continues to resonate decades after its release.

This is a 1993 Limited Edition released as a LP.

Amazing audio. Clear & sharp sound. What makes Sylvia's singing so special is her ability to bring out the feelings in her songs... there's a gorgeous sad tone to her voice.

About Sylvia Telles

Sylvia Telles, born Silvia D'Atri Telles, was a pioneering Brazilian vocalist whose crystal-clear voice and emotive delivery made her one of the foremost female artists of the bossa nova and Brazilian jazz scenes in the 1950s and 1960s. Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Telles' career was tragically cut short by a car accident in 1966, but her legacy endures through her captivating recordings. Her discography, though largely out of print, features stunning interpretations of both original compositions and classic standards, showcasing her remarkable range and artistry. Telles' ability to infuse each song with warmth and intimacy made her a beloved figure in Brazilian music, and her influence can still be heard in the work of contemporary artists. Despite her untimely death at the age of 32, Sylvia Telles' music continues to enchant and inspire, a testament to her enduring talent and the timeless appeal of her artistry.
