Product description

Dirty Projectors' fifth studio album, Bitte Orca, is a masterful blend of art pop and indie rock, showcasing the band's unique sound. Released on 9 June 2009 by Domino Recording Company, this album marked a significant milestone in the band's career, introducing them to a wider audience. The title, Bitte Orca, is a fascinating combination of the German word for "please" and the alternative name for a killer whale, chosen by frontman David Longstreth for its sonic appeal.

Bitte Orca features a talented lineup, including Amber Coffman, Angel Deradoorian, Brian McOmber, David Longstreth, Haley Dekle, and Nat Baldwin. The album's sound is characterised by its tense, knotty tunes, sweetened by a sinuous, almost-R&B feel, courtesy of Coffman and Deradoorian's spectacular backing vocals. This distinctive sound has captivated fans and critics alike, making Bitte Orca one of the most enjoyable indie-rock records in recent memory.

With its 20 tracks, including live recordings and remixes, the expanded edition of Bitte Orca offers a rich and immersive listening experience. The album's duration of 1 hour and 26 minutes is a testament to the band's creativity and experimentation, which has resulted in a truly unique and colourful sound. Dirty Projectors' ability to blend indie rock roots with innovative experimentation has earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting and acclaimed bands in the music scene. Bitte Orca is a must-listen for fans of art pop and indie rock, and its influence can still be felt today, 15 years after its initial release.

This LP is pressed on Blue vinyl.

Fitting the discs into the sleeves can be a bit of a struggle at times, which I've seen is a usual VMP issue. But hey, it's still a fantastic, genre-defining album!

Amazing album, awful quality. I'd steer clear of this one. Really let down by the standard.

Absolutely everything about this is top-notch! The pressing is perfect and a massive upgrade in sound quality over my CD copy. If you're familiar with this album, you'll be amazed at what this pressing brings out! Love the tip-on gatefold jackets and the artwork that you can actually feel. Grab it before it's gone!

  • Stunning Release, Must-Have

    5 out of 5 stars
    WxkEgwopWikdukJune 21, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I gotta say, this release is something else. The sleeve is top-notch, and the pressings are absolutely stunning, matching the cover art like a dream. It's as visually appealing as it gets. The sound quality is fantastic, with the vocals standing out more than ever. A must-have for any collection, if you ask me.
