Billy Taylor, the esteemed American jazz pianist, composer, and educator, left an indelible mark on the music world. Born in Greenville, North Carolina, on July 24, 1921, Taylor was a key figure in the birth of bebop and modern jazz. His career spanned over six decades, during which he released more than fifteen albums and became a respected educator and TV musical director. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, he championed jazz and made it accessible to wider audiences.
