Ellen Allien's album BERLINETTE is a fantastic listen, boasting a winning combination of funky, bright, and moody elements. The album kicks off with "Alles Schen," a gleaming tech-house track made even more captivating by her enigmatic German vocals. The song evolves in intriguing ways: when the vocals return, they're joined by a subtle descending synth line and some electronic squiggles. "Sehnsucht" offers a more direct, darker sound that builds in both intensity and atmosphere. The funky breaks on "Push" are incredibly effective, while the breaks on "Trash Scapes" take on a more abstract, industrial edge. Both "Augenblick" and "Wish" showcase Ellen Allien's more contemplative side. The album concludes with "Open," a skillful fusion of tech-breaks, guitar, and industrial hiss. This excellent mix of styles and techniques makes BERLINETTE an outstanding album.
Ellen Allien has truly outdone herself with this amazing album, showcasing her incredible growth as an artist. The production is top-notch, clearly a lot of effort has been put into it. It's a perfect example of what Bpitch Control electro stands for.
