Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of classical music with Martha Argerich's stunning 2015 album, featuring Ludwig van Beethoven's iconic Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47, famously known as the "Kreutzer" Sonata, and César Franck's deeply expressive Violin Sonata in A Major. This album is a testament to Argerich's virtuosity and her ability to bring out the profound depth and passion in these timeless compositions.

The "Kreutzer" Sonata, composed in 1803, is a cornerstone of the violin repertoire, known for its technical demands and emotional intensity. Argerich's performance, accompanied by the renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman, is a masterclass in musical interpretation, showcasing the sonata's dynamic range and intricate nuances. The three movements—Adagio sostenuto - Presto, Andante con variazioni, and Finale. Presto—are rendered with precision and sensitivity, highlighting the sonata's dramatic contrasts and lyrical beauty.

Complementing Beethoven's masterpiece is Franck's Violin Sonata, a work of profound spiritual and emotional depth. The sonata's four movements—Allegretto ben moderato, Allegro, Recitativo-Fantasia. Ben moderato, and Allegretto poco mosso—are performed with a sense of intimacy and reverence, capturing the essence of Franck's deeply personal and expressive style. Argerich's collaboration with Perlman brings out the sonata's rich harmonies and melodic intricacies, making it a truly unforgettable listening experience.

Recorded under the Warner Classics label, this album is a must-listen for fans of classical music, offering a unique blend of technical brilliance and emotional depth. With a total duration of 59 minutes, it provides a comprehensive and satisfying exploration of these two iconic works. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Martha Argerich's interpretation of Beethoven and Franck's violin sonatas is sure to leave a lasting impression.
