Product description

Michael Sanderling, a conductor renowned for his nuanced interpretations and dynamic performances, presents a captivating album featuring two monumental symphonies: Beethoven's Ninth and Shostakovich's Thirteenth. Released on September 21, 2018, under Sony Classical/Sony Music, this classical masterpiece spans over two hours and eleven minutes, offering an immersive journey through the depths of human expression.

Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, often referred to as the "Choral Symphony," is a cornerstone of the classical repertoire. Sanderling's rendition brings forth the grandeur and innovation of Beethoven's final complete symphony, showcasing its iconic "Ode to Joy" finale with a powerful and inspiring performance.

The album also features Shostakovich's Symphony No. 13 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 113, subtitled "Babi Yar." This profound work is a poignant reflection on historical and personal themes, with each movement offering a distinct emotional landscape. Sanderling's interpretation highlights the symphony's intricate details and raw emotional power, providing a compelling exploration of Shostakovich's musical language.
