Product description

Experience the mastery of Ivan Moravec, a renowned pianist, in this captivating live album recorded in Brussels. "Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin: Live in Brussels" showcases Moravec's exceptional skill and interpretation of classical piano repertoire. The album features a diverse collection of works from three of the most celebrated composers in classical music history.

The album begins with Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 15 in D Major, Op. 28, also known as the "Pastoral" Sonata, a piece that exemplifies Beethoven's innovative and expressive style. Moravec's performance is followed by a selection of Brahms' Klavierstücke, including the Intermezzo from Op. 118 and the Capriccio from Op. 76, which highlight Brahms' lyrical and intricate compositions.

The second half of the album is dedicated to Chopin's works, including the passionate Rhapsody Op. 79, the serene Nocturnes Op. 32 and Op. 27, and the rhythmic Mazurkas from Op. 17 and Op. 50. Moravec's interpretation of Chopin's music is particularly noteworthy, as he brings out the delicate nuances and emotional depth of these beloved pieces.

The album concludes with Chopin's Scherzo No. 1 in B Minor, Op. 20, a virtuosic and dramatic work that showcases Moravec's technical prowess and musical sensitivity. Throughout the album, Moravec's playing is characterized by its clarity, precision, and expressive phrasing, making this a truly memorable and enjoyable listening experience.

Recorded in 2009 and released under the Supraphon label, this live album is a testament to Ivan Moravec's enduring legacy as one of the greatest pianists of our time. Whether you are a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to delight and inspire.
