The sound quality of my pressing is fantastic, except for the final two tracks on side B. There's a noticeable amount of pops and some distortion on those tracks, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.
Got in touch with honest jones and found out there were 2 pressings, one towards the end of 2017 and another early 2018. I picked up my copy last week from the second batch on hhv.de (it was out of stock a month back). I've got this album in FLAC format too, and gave it a listen through headphones: my vinyl copy sounds great, no crackles, no distortion whatsoever. There's a bit more hiss on the vinyl than the digital files, but it's alright. The album is absolutely worth it.
Right now, I'm giving this reissue a spin and it's fantastic! The quiet parts are dead silent, not a single click, no hiss or pops. Zero distortion issues from start to finish. Perhaps there'll be a later pressing? If you're after a great-sounding version of this masterpiece, don't splurge on a pricey first pressing with mediocre quality. Grab this 2017 reissue and indulge! Sheer bliss!
I recently purchased what I believe is the second repressing and it's absolutely flawless. The sound is wonderfully flat and rich. If you're looking for some chill tunes off the beaten path, give this a go ... with some coffee and a shisha 😎
