Barry Manilow was often labeled as "not cool," becoming somewhat of a symbol for easy-listening music. His style leans more towards traditional showbiz pop rather than hard rock. I stumbled upon this album in the dollar bin and thought I'd give it a listen. Tracks like "Cloudburst," "Flashy Lady," and "Could It Be Magic" are all standout songs. "I Am Your Child" feels a bit overly sweet, and the opening track "Sing It" is more of a self-indulgent piece than something you'd want to listen to repeatedly. Manilow collaborated with Bette Midler early in her career, and her hit "Friends" demonstrates how she took a solid song from Manilow's version and transformed it into something dynamic through her performance. Overall, this album is quite enjoyable.
