Product description

Augustyn Bloch's "Denn Dein Licht Kommt / Du Sollst Nicht Töten" is a profound and spiritually resonant classical album released in 1994 under the Pro Viva label. This orchestral and choral work is a testament to Bloch's mastery of composition, blending deep theological themes with rich, emotive music. The album features the NDR Chor and NDR Sinfonieorchester, conducted by Peter Schwarz and Max Schweigmann, delivering a powerful and immersive performance.

The album is structured around a series of movements, each exploring different facets of faith, morality, and human existence. The title track, "Denn Dein Licht Kommt," draws inspiration from Isaiah 60:1-2, setting a hopeful and uplifting tone. The four-part suite "Du Sollst Nicht Töten" delves into the complexities of the commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill," examining themes of love, suffering, and the transient nature of human life. Each part of this suite offers a unique perspective, from the declaration of divine love in "Gott ist Liebe" to the poignant questioning of "Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen," and the reflective "Jeder Mensch ist nur ein Hauch," culminating in the joyous "Jubilate in domino."

With a duration of over an hour and fifteen minutes, this album is a substantial and rewarding listen, offering a deep dive into Bloch's contemplative and spiritually charged musical landscape. Whether you're a fan of classical music or seeking a profound auditory experience, Augustyn Bloch's "Denn Dein Licht Kommt / Du Sollst Nicht Töten" is a compelling exploration of faith and humanity through the lens of orchestral and choral brilliance.
