Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Alexander Arutiunian's 1997 album, a masterful collection of three distinct works that showcase the composer's unique voice and virtuosity. This album, released under the Chandos label, features the Violin Concerto, Sinfonietta, and Piano Concertino, each piece a testament to Arutiunian's ability to blend lyrical melodies with intricate orchestration.

The Violin Concerto, performed by Ilya Grubert with the New Moscow Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Constantine Orbelian, is a four-movement journey that begins with the Andante sostenuto, a slow and sustained introduction that sets the stage for the Allegretto. Scherzando, a lively and playful second movement. The Adagio recitativo, a slow and reflective third movement, leads into the Allegro molto, a fast and energetic finale.

The Sinfonietta, a four-movement work for chamber orchestra, is a study in contrast and balance. The Prelude, a short and introductory piece, leads into the Arioso, a slow and lyrical movement. The Intermezzo pizzicato, a short and playful piece featuring pizzicato strings, leads into the Finale, a fast and energetic conclusion.

The Piano Concertino, a three-movement work for piano and orchestra, is a showcase for the piano's lyrical and virtuosic capabilities. The Allegro, a fast and energetic first movement, leads into the Andante, a slow and reflective second movement. The Allegro vivace, a fast and energetic finale, brings the work to a thrilling conclusion.

Recorded between December 1996 and February 1997, this album is a testament to the enduring power of Arutiunian's music. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
