Product description

"Apām Napāt" is an avant-garde and experimental electroacoustic album by pianist and composer Saman Samadi, released on February 27, 2016, under his independent label, Samadis' Records. This captivating collection features sixteen immersive pieces, each a unique blend of piano, reeds, and Buchla synthesizer, performed by the trio of Saman Samadi, Blaise Siwula, and Hans Tammen. Recorded live at C.O.M.A. in New York during February 2016, the album captures the raw energy and spontaneity of the ensemble's first performance together.

With a total runtime of 38 minutes, "Apām Napāt" offers a journey through the boundaries of experimental music. The album's title, derived from ancient Persian mythology, reflects the trio's exploration of timeless themes and their innovative approach to sound. Each track, from the haunting "Āp" to the dynamic "Mithra," showcases the musicians' virtuosity and their fearless approach to genre-defying compositions.

Saman Samadi's piano work is the heart of the album, anchored by Blaise Siwula's expressive reeds and Hans Tammen's intricate Buchla synthesizer textures. The interplay between these instruments creates a rich tapestry of sound, inviting listeners to explore the depths of each piece. Whether you're a seasoned fan of experimental music or a curious newcomer, "Apām Napāt" promises an engaging and thought-provoking listening experience.

About Saman Samadi

Saman Samadi is a Persian-American composer and artistic researcher who pushes the boundaries of avant-garde and experimental music. Born in 1984, his work delves into the philosophical and conceptual aspects of sound, exploring the very essence of music itself. As a performer and director of the Cambridge University Experimental Music Ensemble, Saman brings his innovative compositions to life, creating immersive experiences that challenge and inspire. His releases, such as "Through a Veil" and "The Memory That Wasn't Mine," reflect his deep philosophical inquiries and experimental approach. With a background in music scholarship and a role as a former Editorial Officer at Wolfson Research, Saman's work is as intellectually stimulating as it is sonically captivating. To experience Saman Samadi's music is to embark on a journey through the uncharted territories of sound and thought.
