I had the chance to see the live performance and it was absolutely incredible. This record does a great job of bringing the show's energy to life, though it can't quite match the magic of being there in person. That said, I'm really loving this pressing - the quality is top-notch and I'm thrilled to have it in my collection...it's just a masterpiece!
Wow, this pressing is absolutely amazing... Don't miss out, get it ASAP! Caught the tour in Orlando back in '19. It was mind-blowing!
This is an amazing release! The audio quality is superb on this double Live LP. The vinyl is perfectly flat, heavy, and incredibly quiet. It's exactly what you'd anticipate from Nonesuch Records. Just to be clear, though. If you're hoping for the sound quality to match that of the Stop Making Sense LP, you'll be disappointed. That being said, the mix captures what you experienced live at the concert, and it's dynamic and well balanced. The bass and guitar cut through, and David's vocals are as clear as a bell and as haunting as always. I highly recommend grabbing this one if you're undecided.
This is an amazing pressing of an incredible show. If you're a Talking Heads or Byrne enthusiast, you gotta have this!
In a nutshell, this is a fantastic pressing of an absolutely amazing show. I didn't catch the Broadway production, but this recording does a pretty solid job of capturing the tour. The only thing is, it's tough not to listen to this and not realize it's an "Original Cast Recording," recorded in a Broadway theater. It just comes across a bit more rigid and subdued than what I recall from the live touring show. And I've noticed this with nearly every other "original cast recordings" from Broadway musicals; they never quite pack the same punch or feel as alive as the live performance. On the other hand, great live recordings of concerts can truly capture the experience and still sound incredible. This album is wonderful, and I'm thrilled to revisit this show, which is honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen, but I can't help but think that a live recording of the touring show would be more up my alley for a live concert album.
