This album is a testament to the band's enduring prowess in blending hard rock and progressive rock elements, creating a sound that is both timeless and invigorating.

  • Cover Resolution Disappointing

    4 out of 5 stars
    xokhere7733July 13, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The cover's resolution is terrible. It's super "pixel"-ated :( I haven't checked other formats yet to see if the music quality is just as bad.

  • Uriah Heep's Best Version

    5 out of 5 stars
    ugxehyMarch 23, 2025United KingdomπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

This is my go-to version of the often overlooked Uriah Heep record. The sound's a tad louder than the '82 WG release, and the track sequence is shuffled. Mastering and pressing are top-notch, with solid dynamics and impact.

  • Vinyl Quality and Mastering

    4 out of 5 stars
    ixmiljMarch 23, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The vinyl's quality is superb, and unlike the '82 Western Germany Bronze version, "Think It Over" is mastered at the same volume as the rest of the album. The overall sound and pressing are a bit more subdued compared to the WG or '82 Canadian pressings. (On the '82 WG pressing, "Think It Over" is noticeably quieter and sounds muffled.)

  • Mixed Genre Reissue Shines

    4 out of 5 stars
    on.neffuk8326December 10, 2024United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

In my view, this is a fairly well-sounding reissue. I'm a bit unsure how to classify the album, though. It reminds me of Thin Lizzy at times, but also veers into Foreigner/Chicago territory at others. That's not a bad thing, as it's quite a solid record overall.

  • Heep's Eighties Revival Triumph

    5 out of 5 stars
    Yuvceouj_JidowkOctober 26, 2024United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

With this album, Heep stepped into the eighties. Following the underwhelming Conquest, the band fell apart, and Box had to assemble a completely new lineup, except for Lee Kerslake on drums. The band's new sound is quintessentially eighties pop-metal, but with Goalby handling vocals and Sinclair on keyboards, it surprisingly clicks. Both Kerslake and Box deliver fiery performances, and for the first time, Box is the sole guitarist. Producer Ashley Howe gives the band a modern edge, and despite featuring five cover songs, the album feels cohesive. This might be the band's best work since Salisbury and certainly proved they still had relevance in 1982. It's one of my favorite Heep albums, even outshining the legendary Demons and Wizards and Magician's Birthday. That said, I get that this polished eighties pop-metal might not be everyone's taste.

About Uriah Heep

Uriah Heep, the legendary British rock band formed in London in 1969, has been a cornerstone of the progressive and hard rock genres for over five decades. Named after the scheming character from Charles Dickens' "David Copperfield," the band has crafted a rich discography that blends intricate compositions with powerful vocals and electrifying guitar work. With founding member and guitarist Mick Box at the helm, alongside keyboardist Phil Lanzon and a rotating cast of talented musicians, Uriah Heep continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Their latest release, "Chaos & Colour," showcases the band's enduring ability to innovate while staying true to their hard rock roots. Fans can catch their dynamic live performances on "The Magician's Farewell" Tour, which includes dates across Europe.
